AAC Awareness and Acceptance Week

October 25-29, 2021

As Arlington Public Schools endeavors to ensure inclusivity and equity in our community, we are pleased to celebrate Augmentative and Alternative Communication, or AAC,download-1 Awareness and Acceptance Week . Our hope through scheduled activities is to recognize and highlight the many diverse ways in which we communicate and build awareness of interactions that are inclusive of all members of our community.

During AAC Awareness & Acceptance Week,

  • Staff and students will have an opportunity to watch a brief AAC Awareness video and complete a “Chatterbox Challenge” activity. Additional extension activities will also be available for staff to complete.
  • A session on AAC at Home including a presentation by our two AAC Implementation Coaches along with a Parent Share Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, October 27th at 7pm.
  • In partnership with Arlington SEPTA, we will host a complimentary Syphax snack/beverage cart on Wednesday, October 27th for Syphax staff, who will have an opportunity to experience using AAC devices and systems to order refreshments.
