The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is typically the first step in the process. Teachers/school teams implement strategies, supports and interventions based on the student’s needs and monitor progress. Based on the student’s response, the teacher/school team will determine if additional processes such as special education or Section 504 need to be considered.
