Raphael Villacrusis
Teacher, Arlington Science Focus School
As a dynamic science educator, Raphael Villacrusis consistently inspires curiosity, confidence and a love of learning in every student. He transforms scientific concepts into engaging, hands-on experiences that make learning both meaningful and memorable. Beyond the classroom, Mr. Villacrusis actively contributes to the school community by leading student groups, supporting colleagues and fostering a culture where all learners feel valued and capable. Recently, he organized a schoolwide event called Outside the Box Day, where students designed projects by grade level to enhance scientific learning. The event energized students across the school and showcased strong communication, collaboration and creativity. What truly sets Mr. Villacrusis apart is his unwavering commitment to students and pride in the school community. His passion for teaching and genuine care for others enrich the entire Arlington Science Focus family.
Rosa Segovia
Teacher, Escuela Key
Rosa Segovia is known throughout Escuela Key as a kind, patient and dedicated teacher who truly understands her students. She builds strong relationships, provides clear guidance and creates a classroom where students feel safe and supported. Her ability to connect with students, redirect them when needed and encourage their growth has made a lasting impression on those she teaches. Ken Diaz
Teacher, Ashlawn Elementary School
Ken Diaz is the kind of educator every family hopes their child will have. From the very first day of school, he builds trust with students and parents and works to create a positive, engaging learning environment. Mr. Diaz understands his students as individuals and brings out the best in them through empathy, structure and humor. He uses creative strategies to make learning meaningful and motivating. His efforts have helped students develop confidence, pride and a strong desire to come to school each day. He truly sees the strengths in every child and helps them believe in themselves. Samantha Dudding
Student Support Coordinator, Hoffman-Boston Elementary School
Samantha Dudding is a talented and dedicated student support coordinator who strengthens her school community through collaboration and care. She provides professional development for staff and works closely with families to ensure that plans for students are created through a thoughtful and inclusive process. In addition to her work at Hoffman-Boston, Ms. Dudding serves as a board member for Speech, Language and Hearing of Virginia, advocating for the needs of students with disabilities at the state and national level. Her experience as a related service provider and home healthcare professional brings valuable insight to her role. Her commitment to students and families makes a meaningful difference every day.
Randall Stewart
Band Director, Gunston Middle School
Randall Stewart brings enthusiasm, encouragement and high expectations to his role as band director at Gunston Middle School. He helps students at every skill level grow as musicians and ensures they feel confident and prepared for performances. Students describe him as supportive, patient and always willing to help, whether they are learning a new instrument or solving a technical problem. He leads large ensembles with energy and positivity and creates a program where students feel proud to participate. Mr. Stewart’s dedication to music education and to his students makes a lasting impact on the Gunston community.
