Health, Physical, and Driver Education

APS encourages students to maintain a healthy lifestyle to support their education and success.

The Health, Physical Education, and Driver Education Office includes multiple programs and services for APS students, including:

Health Education

The APS Health Education program follows the Virginia Health Education Standards of Learning (SOLs). Arlington Public Schools teachers drafted curriculum content to address particular units of study.

Physical Education

The APS Physical Education program follows the Virginia Physical Education Standards of Learning (SOLs). Arlington Public Schools teachers drafted curriculum content to address particular units of study.

Driver Education

The APS Driver Education program follows the Virginia Driver Education Standards of Learning (SOLs). The program consists of classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, road skills test, and the Virginia General Assembly’s required parent/guardian teen safe driver meeting.  This instructional program is offered at Wakefield, Washington Liberty, and Yorktown.
