Middle School Options and Transfers Information for School Year 2024-25

Option middle schools/programs offer specialized educational instruction. Arlington Public Schools provides students the opportunity to attend an option school/program as an alternative to attending their designated neighborhood school. If more applications are received than there are seats available, APS will conduct a random, double-blind lottery to determine admission. Learn more.

• Application Window: Students interested in attending an option middle school/program must submit an online application between Nov. 6, 2023, and Jan. 12, 2024 by 4:00 p.m.
• H-B Woodlawn Slot Allotments: 75 6th-grade slots are available. Learn about the slots that will be posted in November.

Neighborhood Transfers: APS assesses the ability to provide neighborhood transfers for the upcoming school year annually. A decision regarding middle school neighborhood transfers for the 2024-25 school year, if any, will be announced in February 2023 after the January enrollment update to the Superintendent and the School Board.

• Application Window: If neighborhood transfers are available, interested students must review the transfer eligibility and submit an online application between Feb. 19 and March 8, 2024.
