Secondary Athletic Coaching Vacancies

Assistant Golf Coach – Working directly with the head coach and the girls golf coach, this individual will primarily be responsible for technique and skill development.  The ideal candidate will have prior playing and/or coaching experience with an emphasis on stroke and technique.  Many players obtain private instruction but this coach will assist with minor tweaks at practices and matches.  The season begins August 1 and runs until late October with events three-four days a week after school on weekdays.  During the first three weeks of the season, practices and tournaments occur during the day.  There is a stipend associated with the position of $2232 for the season.

Cross Country Assistant – Seeking a knowledgeable running coach to be a member of a staff of four or five coaches who work with over 150 athletes of varying abilities and interests.  Candidates should be able to commit to afternoon practices four weekdays a week as well as meets on Saturdays.  The ideal candidate has experience working with high school age students and can plan practices for a group of 20-25 runners.  An eye toward safety of the runners is a key concern given the location of practices. The cross country season runs from mid-August to early November.  The stipend will range depending on time commitment and availability from $2232-$4467.

Head Girls Basketball Coach: Qualifications for Varsity Head Basketball Coach

  • Knowledge of APS and school athletic policies and rules
  • Knowledge of basketball rules and regulations
  • One or more years of coaching experience required/2 or more years Head Coaching preferred
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work/communicate with community members (as required), administrators, staff, students, and parents
  • Good organizational skills including the ability to delegate tasks and meet deadlines
  • Availability to work evenings and some weekends
  • Participate in all professional development and organizational meetings on the school, district and regional level related to varsity basketball
  • Plan, organize and conduct fair and equitable try-outs for entire basketball program-all 3-Levels
  • Communicate with Student Activities Office staff regarding organization and implementation of basketball season
  • Plan and implement practices (15-18 week season with approximately 15 member team at all 3 Levels)
  • Plan for and coach during games (23 games plus post-season tournaments)
  • Inventory, manage, and secure all assigned equipment and uniforms throughout the season
