This week highlights the importance of unified action in responding to emergencies, with every member of APS playing a role in creating safe learning environments and ensuring effective responses.

Schedule of events 

Day 1 – October 27: Emergency Preparedness Week Kickoff & Testing the APS Critical Notification Systems

  • Read the Superintendent’s message on ParentSquare
  • Test of APS Alert for APS Staff only, mass notification to all staff and public safety radio checks.
  • Tabling at Wakefield HS with Arlington County Fire Department
  • Virtual Lunch and Learn for APS Staff- Live Webinar/Q&A with the National Threat Assessment Center

Day 2 – October 28: STOP the PROP

  • Look out for STOP the PROP awareness materials that have been distributed throughout APS to each school
  • Tabling at W & L HS with Arlington County Fire Department, 11:00am-1:00p

Day 3 – October 29: Gun Safety & Suicide Awareness

  • Read the Superintendent’s Message on Gun Safety
  • Tabling at Yorktown HS with Arlington County Fire Department

Day 4 – October 30: Threat Assessment FAQ

Day 5 – October 31: Tabletop Exercise

  • Tabletop Exercise with APS and Community Stakeholders, including Arlington Police Department and Arlington County Fire Department
  • Virtual Lunch and Learn for APS Staff – Live Webinar/Q&A with the CISA School Safety Task Force
