APS Announces All-District Orchestra Results

Congratulations to all 17 APS students who were selected for the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors’ Association (VBODA) District 12 Honors Orchestra.

The orchestra students recently represented their schools during the All-District Orchestra Event, which was held at Langley High School earlier this month. Students in the Junior Honors Orchestra were led by guest conductor, Dr. Brenda Brenner, and students in the Senior Honors Orchestra were led by guest conductor, Mr. David Gratis.

The orchestra is by audition only. It is open to all string students in District XII of the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association, which includes around 30 public and private middle and high schools in McLean, Vienna, Chantilly, Oakton and Arlington.

Junior Honors Orchestra (Grades 6-8)

  • Gunston– Nora Peay: viola
  • Hamm – Lia Luchenitser: viola
  • H-B Woodlawn (6-8) – Wyatt Waack: viola
  • Jefferson – Lea Komlodi: string bass
  • Swanson – Amalee Tsang: violin
  • Williamsburg – Viviana Gallardo-Vélez: violin, Nathaniel Newbill: bass, and William Piervincenzi: bass

Senior Honors Orchestra (Grades 9-12)

  • Wakefield – Greta Ibinson: violin
  • Washington-Liberty – Ian Kilpatrick: string bass
  • Yorktown – Emi Jiang: violin, Zoe Lee: violin, Dani Patdu: violin, Zaineb Qadir: violin, William Schwebach: violin, Tanish Singh: violin and Owen Scriber: cello
