Arlington Public Schools’ virtual course offerings began with one locally produced course in 1993. Today, APS students have access to a diverse array of virtual courses. APS virtual courses, either locally produced or those offered by an approved third-party vendor, are taught by highly qualified educators who are experts in teaching in the virtual environment. It is important to note that the completion of a virtual course is a graduation requirement for all high school students.
Certain students who are unable to attend school for medical reasons are eligible to be full-time virtual students. To apply for this, a family would have to go through the Administrative Placement Process. Students who are homebound for a limited time due to medical reasons may qualify for Homebound Instruction.
