Through CCRV, students can work toward completing the UCGS (or the smaller Passport Program) while still in high school. Completing the UCGS before high school graduation gives you a block of general education credits that transfer smoothly to Virginia public colleges and many private colleges.
UCGS (Uniform Certificate of General Studies)
- A certificate program (about 31–32 credits) that covers general education coursework accepted across Virginia public colleges and universities. Typically 1st year of college.
To join CCRV through NVCC, students must:
- Be a current high school junior or senior.
- Be enrolled (or enroll) in NVCC Dual Enrollment. If not yet enrolled, students must complete the NOVA application to get a student ID before participating.
- Meet college readiness and course placement criteria under NVCC / Virginia Community College System guidelines.
