This week’s Every Student Counts video highlights the unique ways the Math office is thinking outside the box to engage students in math concepts, aligned with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) math standards. The video reinforces essential algebraic concepts, such as rate of change, linear equations, and the relationship between slope and y-intercept. By integrating storytelling and rhythm, the song transforms abstract mathematical ideas into concrete, memorable experiences, making learning more dynamic and accessible. Designed with multimodal instruction in mind, the video provides critical support for both English Learners (ELs) and Special Education (SPED) students.
The lyrics were written by secondary math specialist Leonda Archer, and the music was produced by former APS student Jonah Brill.
