Join us for the APS Expo and Interview Day on February 7 at Wakefield High School, where teachers and support staff can meet directly with administrators and department teams hiring for instructional and support positions across multiple subjects, grade levels, and service areas.

From Washington, DC Take I-395 South toward Richmond. Use Exit 5A for VA-27 / Washington Blvd toward Pentagon. Continue on Washington Blvd, then turn right onto S Dinwiddie St. Wakefield High School will be on your left.

From Northern Virginia (I-66 or I-495) Follow I-395 South toward Richmond. Take Exit 5A for VA-27 / Washington Blvd. Turn right onto S Dinwiddie St and continue to the school.

Parking
Event parking is in the school parking lot. Event staff or signage will help direct you upon arrival.

Informational Sessions

Accountability, Evaluation, and Strategic Planning - Info Session 1

Speaker: Jonathan Turrisi, Director

The Office of Accountability, Evaluation and Strategic Planning provides division-wide leadership in the areas of accountability, evaluation, and strategic planning. Work includes strategic leadership and support with all matters of compliance with the Standards of Quality, Standards of Accreditation, and Accountability including development of corrective action plans. Staff develop and facilitate all program evaluations, district wide surveys and research approval process; and all components of the strategic planning process (development, implementation, progress monitoring, and reporting) that includes working directly with school and department leadership teams.

Food Services - Info Session 1

Speaker: Amy Maclosky, Director of Food & Nutrition Services

The school nutrition department plays a vital role in the well-being of students by ensuring they have access to healthy, affordable and balanced meals and snacks. The program emphasizes the importance of nutritious foods, helping students make informed choices about what they eat. We ensure that all students, regardless of socio-economic status have access to healthy meals, reducing hunger and its effects on learning.

Finance/Procurement - Info Sessions 1 & 2

Speaker: David Sandloop, Assistant Director of Procurement

Procurement oversees the acquisition of all the physical assets and services required by the school district. Bids, Requests for Proposal, Requests for Quotes, Sole Sources, Emergency procurements, etc. are all managed by procurement staff.

Information Systems - Info Sessions 1 & 2

Information Services delivers data-driven, operationally efficient solutions and tools that enhance teaching, learning, and working at Arlington Public Schools. The department develops innovative, sustainable strategies that support APS’s instructional and operational objectives, safeguards business continuity, and proactively engages with emerging technology trends. The department includes Information Services Management, Technology Services, and Enterprise Solutions.

Extended Day - Info Sessions 1 & 2

Speaker: Antonio Hall, Director

The APS Extended Day Program, which includes the middle school Check-In programs, plays a critical role in the development of young people’s social, emotional, and academic skills, with over 400 childcare professionals working daily to meet the individual needs of each child and the expectations of every family. Extended Day provides a safe, enriching, and fun environment before and after school each day for over 4,000 children. It also operates during the summer in conjunction with the APS Summer School Program.

Maintenance and Plant Operations - Info Sessions 1 & 2

Our guest speakers represent Maintenance and Plant Operations and will share information about career opportunities that support the upkeep, safety, and functionality of school facilities. These roles are essential to creating safe, well-maintained learning environments.

Transportation - Info Session 1

We are committed to providing safe and efficient transportation for more than 16,000 eligible students. Our team ensures students travel to and from school as well as school-related activities. Training to join our team typically takes 4–6 weeks, during which we prepare school bus drivers to successfully earn their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Aquatics Management - Info Sessions 1 & 2

Our guest speaker represents Aquatic Management where safety, supervision, and facility operations come together to support student learning and community programming. They will highlight career opportunities that make a direct impact in school and community aquatic programs.

School and Community Relations - Info Sessions 1 & 2

Speaker: Elisabeth Lua, Supervisor of Family & Community Engagement

School and Community Relations (SCR) & Bilingual Family Specialists (BFS) The School and Community Relations (SCR) team builds strong partnerships between schools, families, and the wider community to support student success. This work includes family engagement initiatives, community partnerships, outreach, and communication that help ensure families feel welcomed, informed, and empowered to participate in their children’s education. Bilingual Family Specialists (BFS) play a critical role in this work by serving as trusted connectors between schools and multilingual families.

Substitutes

Our guest speaker serves as a Substitute Specialist and will share information about substitute opportunities that support daily classroom coverage and school operations. These roles are essential to maintaining continuity of instruction when staff are absent.

iTeach

Our guest speaker represents iTeach and will share information about becoming a teacher through this alternative licensure pathway. This session highlights how candidates with a bachelor’s degree can earn teaching credentials while working in the classroom, with structured support and mentoring throughout the process.
