Swanson Middle School Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Every year since 2021, Swanson Middle School has held a Hispanic Heritage Night community event. The school’s Bilingual Family Specialist, Nohra Rodriguez, forms a team with school staff to plan the event, and works with families to find talent for traditional dances from various countries. Over the last two years, Swanson has invited their neighboring school, Cardinal Elementary, to participate and provide great support.

This year, the celebration featured five Latin American dances:

  • Bolivian Tinku
  • Bolivian Morenada
  • Salvadorean Cumbia
  • Bachata
  • Punta Dance from Honduras

The community would like to express their gratitude to Swanson principal Ms. Loft for her full support of this celebration at Swanson. They also want to thank the teachers who assisted with decorations, the group of students who performed and encouraged others to participate, the students who showcased their dances and culture, and the parents who supported them by bringing traditional foods from their countries to share.

Viva el Mes de la Herencia Hispana!
