APS Announces Senior Regional Orchestra and All-District Orchestra Results

Senior Regional Orchestra
Last month, 7 students from Arlington Public Schools were selected from the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA) Northern Virginia region to participate in the prestigious VBODA North Senior Regional Orchestra (SRO). Each year, musicians compete for one of the highly coveted spots.

The event was hosted at Wakefield High School November 9-11 and students rehearsed and performed a final concert with conductor Daniel Myssyk on November 11. These musicians are also now eligible to audition for All-Virginia Band and Orchestra in February.

The following students were selected:

• H-B Woodlawn – Ava Yi, violin
• Wakefield – Landan Gallardo, French horn, and Josephine Van Hoey, violin
• Washington-Liberty – Ellsie Seward, viola
• Yorktown- Tessa Green, violin, Alexander Joe, bass, and Eleanor Meehan, viola

All-District Orchestra

Congratulations to the 13 APS students who auditioned and were selected to participate in the upcoming District XII Honors Orchestra.  Auditions took place in November and the honors event will take place at Langley High School January 12-13 with guest conductors and a final performance on the afternoon of January 13.
