Superintendent’s January 3, 2024 Update

Dear APS Families,

Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope you had a fulfilling and joyous break. We are happy to see our students back and look forward to supporting their success in the new year.

I wanted to make you aware of the upcoming School Board Work Sessions focused on important aspects of instruction with the Advisory Council on Teaching and Learning (ACTL). The sessions take place on Jan. 9 and Jan. 23 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed for the community to view. The advisory committees that will present recommendations to the School Board include:

  • 9 – Advanced Academics and Talent Development, Special Education, Early Childhood, English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Educational Technology.
  • 23 – Career, Technical and Adult Education (CTAE), Science, Student Services, Immersion, English Learners and School Health.

I also want to remind you that we have a monthly recognition program called APS All Stars to celebrate the unsung heroes of APS. The  APS All-Star nomination form is a great way for parents and guardians to recognize a teacher or staff member making a difference in your student’s school.

To everyone in our APS community, I wish you the very best for 2024 and the remainder of the school year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Francisco Durán
Superintendent
