All Elementary and Middle School APS students receive universal screenings in reading and math during the first quarter of the academic year. Some high school students participate in universal screenings based on individual need. These nationally normed assessments are used to identify individual student strengths and needs so that strategic supports, interventions, and extensions may begin right away. Some assessments are given to students up to three times a year.
