Accepting Nominations for Employee of the Year

Show your appreciation of your favorite teacher, assistant principal or support staff!

APS encourages community members to nominate APS staff for our annual recognition in the categories of Teacher of the Year, Support Employee of the Year, and Assistant Principal of the Year.

Please review the criteria below and fill out a separate form for each individual nominee. Forms should be submitted to the school principal by Nov. 20.

To be eligible, an employee must have been an APS staff member for at least three consecutive years. Employees may only be nominated in one category.

Teacher of the Year nominees should:

  • Instill in students a desire to learn and achieve.
  • Understand the individual needs of students, encourage their talents, and foster their self-esteem.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of subject matter and the ability to share it effectively with students.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with their colleagues and the community.
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership.

Support Employee of the Year nominees should:

  • Provide a unique and exceptional contribution to APS through their work.
  • Demonstrate commitment.
  • Demonstrate excellence and initiative in their field of work.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with colleagues and the community.
  • Contribute to the goals of APS.

Assistant Principal of the Year nominees should:

  • Promote the academic success and well-being of each student.
  • Share in the responsibility of articulating, advocating, and cultivating core values that define the school’s culture and stress child-centered education; high expectations and student support; equity, inclusiveness, and social justice; openness, caring, and trust; and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the school principal, and the community, to review the school’s mission and vision and adjust them to changing expectations and opportunities for the school and changing needs and situations of students.
  • Collaborate with the school principal to strategically develop, implement, and evaluate actions to achieve the vision for the school.
  • Model and pursue the school’s mission, vision, and core values in all aspects of leadership.
