Dear APS Families,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! I hope you had a great summer and are ready for an exciting year ahead. We look forward to welcoming students back on Mon, Aug. 28.

I want to thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your students. Our teachers and staff are committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and has the resources and support that they need to reach their full potential—academically, socially and emotionally.

As we begin this new school year, we are continuing the Every Student Counts framework to communicate how we are supporting the success of each student. We are committed to knowing every student by name, strength and need, breaking barriers to success, and ensuring they have every resource needed to achieve their full potential.

Academic success begins with
belonging and well-being. APS continues our emphasis on student mental health and fostering safe and supportive school communities.  We are doing this by continuing to focus on our implementation of social-emotional learning, restorative practices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Your child’s school counselor is the place to start if you want to discuss their future goals, areas of strength, or strategies for growth.

Your voice
, open communication and collaboration are key to the success of all schools, and we encourage you to stay engaged throughout the school year. Sign up for ParentSquare, attend conferences with your child’s teacher, participate in school events and contact our dedicated staff whenever you have questions or concerns.  We can create a strong partnership supporting our students’ growth and development.

Finally, regular attendance is key to student success. Students who come to school consistently are more likely to read on grade level, maintain their grades, and graduate from high school.
