Dear APS Families,
I hope you had a wonderful Spring Break. We look forward to ensuring all students have a strong final quarter of the school year.
There is a lot of excitement around the solar eclipse that will take place on Mon, April 8, as it provides a rare opportunity to learn more about this extraordinary natural phenomenon. In our area, the eclipse will occur between 2-4:30 p.m. Because students will be in school or dismissing around this time, we are providing all students with protective solar-viewing glasses and want to ensure they understand the importance of safe viewing practices. Schools will be distributing the glasses to students on Monday. I encourage families to view these Eclipse Resources. Additionally, the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) offers free resources about safety considerations.
Here are two additional updates and reminders for the month ahead:
- April Recognitions: This week our schools are celebrating Assistant Principal Appreciation Week and today is National Paraprofessional Appreciation Day. Please join us in sharing appreciation for our outstanding Assistant Principals and instructional assistants this week. There are many other recognitions that our schools celebrate in April, and we will highlight all of them in this week’s Friday 5.
- Calendar Reminders: Next Wed, April 10 is a student and staff holiday in observance of Eid al-Fitr. Mon, April 15 is a Grade Preparation Day and there is no school for students. Please be aware that many of our staff will be teleworking on that date and will monitor emails during normal hours.
