As part of our ongoing commitment to engaging with and listening to our community, APS is excited to launch the 2025 administration of the Your Voice Matters (YVM) survey, which is conducted jointly by APS and the Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth and Families (APCYF). The YVM survey is a voluntary survey conducted every school year and will be administered between February 12, 2025 – March 21, 2025.
The YVM survey is a cornerstone in our strategy to understand and address the needs, concerns, and aspirations of our students, staff, and families. In addition, the survey is designed to capture specific feedback on essential topics such as safety, health, well-being and engagement, aligned with our 2024-30 APS Strategic Plan.
Why Your Participation Matters
- Vital Insights: Your input enables us to make data-driven decisions that benefit everyone in our diverse community.
- Making a Difference: Feedback from previous YVM surveys has informed School and Department Action Plans.
- Tracking Progress: The annual YVM Survey allows us to measure our progress and adapt to the changing needs of our community, ensuring continuous improvement.
Our Collaborative Effort
- Inclusivity: We encourage participation from everyone. Hearing a wide range of perspectives is essential for inclusive decision-making that truly represents our diverse community.
- Transparency and Accessibility: We are committed to transparency, showing how your feedback informs our future actions and policies through the YVM dashboard.
- Strategic Impact: The insights gathered through YVM provide the benchmarks for the 2024-30 APS Strategic Plan.
Survey Administration & Confidentiality
- Survey Administration: Students in grades 4 and above will receive a link to access their confidential survey. All Staff will receive a direct email from third-party vendor Panorama Education to access the survey. All Families will receive an anonymous link through school-wide communications.
- Confidential vs. Anonymous Survey: Staff and student surveys are administered confidentially. Respondents receive a unique link tied to their APS email or staff/student ID. This method allows APS to monitor response rates and ensure comprehensive community outreach. Importantly, no employee at APS views the individual survey responses connected with any staff or student personal identifiable information. Family surveys are administered anonymously through school communication and are not linked to the individual, requiring respondents to self-report their own demographic information.
- Survey Confidentiality: The survey is distributed through the third-party vendor Panorama Education and all data is maintained by this third-party vendor in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Student Data Usage and Privacy Agreement (SDUPA).
